BUILDING COMMUNITY – HELPING WOMEN & GIRLS TO THRIVE

In 2023, The Add-Vantage took the decision create a Community Interest Company arm, this sat well with our Vision & Mission

MISSIONHOW WE WILL WORK TOWARDS THE VISION?

We will work hard to support girls and women to live well with ADHD through awareness, advocacy, education, coaching and creating community.

We Envisage a world where:

– Everyone has a true understanding of the nature of ADHD, and how the female experience can be different from the ‘expected’ presentation
– Where girls and women with ADHD receive the early targeted support they need to flourish, and where they access the same opportunities as their peers
– Where girls and women with ADHD can embrace their strengths and qualities to thrive, growing into the best versions of themselves

OUR CURRENT PROJECTS SEEKING FUNDING

Project 1.   We have recently completed a pilot project in collaboration with Hertfordshire University,  which saw specialist female mentors, all living with ADHD effectively mentoring groups of girls within educational settings, to prove the concept that early intervention from those with lived experience has a greater impact and positive outcomes for young people.  Following the outcome of this proof of concept research.  The ADD-Vantage, would like to pursue a larger study and seek to multiply the number of specialist mentors, to ensure the next generation are not left waiting to receive quality support and guidance needed to live well and reach their individual potential. This is a big project where we are seeking funding that will assist with not only the training but gathering specific data and research with the aim to developing/improving current policies in early help and support.

Project 2.  We are continuing with our Hertfordshire-based Community Hub for women with ADHD, this project was launched in 2023 and has seen real impact in the lives of local women.  The community hub meet several times throughout the month and has become a safe haven for many, where like minds can come together to connect, learn and laugh with one another. It’s primary aims to prevent isolation within the community, provide support, awareness and education. We are seeking funding for this service to develop the outreach project and have greater impact and reach.

Project 3 : A New community outreach initiative is being launched September 2025 – known as ‘The Spark Squad’ – this will offer a relaxed social group for local girls with ADHD and related conditions. The venue will be in a private rural setting in the Hertford area. It will be facilitated by women mentors with lived experience of ADHD, who all have enhanced DBS certificates and the relevant safeguarding training. A minimum of two mentors will be available each session. If demand allows we will offer two sessions – one for younger girls 11-14 years old, and one for 14-18 year olds.

We hope to offer a fortnightly 2 hour session on a Wednesday afternoon / evening in term time.
